Goh: "How many muscle ups can you do?"
Mitch: "I can do 14."
G: "What is your max?"
M: "Eight years ago, I was in a competition and did 36; every one was looking at me as if something was wrong with me."
Mitch is almost 76 years old, which means he did 36 muscle ups when he was 68 years old; the beautiful thing about him, he is an energizing guy who knows how to ride life and enjoy it fully. In short, he is the kid forever. I was laughing, smiling, crying, all at the same time, inside and out, and couldn't stop.
Thankfully, I was able to share my 'pumpedness' immediately... my workout friend/teacher walked in after Mitch just blew me away... I asked Eric to guess the person's age. He answered forty-one. I shared with him the above; we were laughing together shortly after, completely inspired.
In case you do not know what a muscle up is, it is the first move that I do here by swinging myself over the pull up bar.
On a musical note, recently I got a call from Boy who I went to school with; I will be working backstage at Madison Square Garden with him this February. Boy produces "risk taking" events all over the world; another inspiring soul he is.
Frank Zappa: "How hard is it to achieve the impossible?"
John Bergamo: "It depends on how impossible it is."
I would love to perform my own music at MSG. I would love to do 36 muscle ups... in my opinion, 36 muscle ups is a bit more challenging, but perhaps that is just me. I spoke with Mitch at 5am in the gym this passed Wednesday; for me he is a blue print of the human possibilities, so is Boy, Eric, Frank, and John. I love creative people and risk takers, as I get inspired to share heart, and not worry.
